PetroChina’s Guangxi Petrochemical Project Operational on September 8

September 8 -- PetroChina (601857, 0857.HK) put its 10 million-ton capacity refinery in Guangxi into operations on September 8, reports China Business News.

PetroChina invested a total of 15.1 billion yuan in the refinery project. 

The refinery will supply 8.3 million tons of fuel, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as 900,000 tons of petro-chemicals annually to southwestern China.

The refinery's oil products all comply with the Euro III Standard.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved the refinery project in 2007 and construction began in November, 2007.

According to PetroChina’s statistics, demand for refined oil in Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan totaled 15 million tons in 2009.
