Copper futures for May 2010 delivery traded on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) was up 680 yuan per ton from the previous trading day to close at 52,560 yuan on February 8, according to statistics released by the SHFE. Transaction volume reached 287,140 lots. Each lot is equivalent to five tons.
The cash buyer price for copper traded on the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed at $6,241.50 per ton on February 5, London Standard Time.
The three-month buyer price for LME copper closed at $6,260.00 per ton on February 5. The LME official opening stock was 541,150 tons on February 5.
In regards to copper-related stocks traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Jiangxi Copper (600362) rose 0.72 percent to close at 33.66 yuan on February 8.
Yunnan Copper (000878) was up 0.29 percent to close at 24.00 yuan on February 8 on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
