Haier Electronics Group (1169.HK) currently has a more than 30 percent market share in the market for home appliances in rural areas, reports China Securities Journal, citing Zhou Yunjie, executive director of Haier Electronics Group on March 9.
White goods such as air-conditioners, washing machines and freezers account for more than 40 percent of the market for home appliances in rural areas.
Haier Electronics Group plans to set up a subsidiary in Shanghai to increase its presence in rural markets, added Zhou.
Haier Group announced on March 9 that Haier obtained the ISO 14064 standard or the low-carbon standard for its air-conditioners.
The ISO 14064 standard enables governments and enterprises to assess and support greenhouse gas reductions and emissions trading.
